Kamal Haasan just turned 60 and looks forward to a successful year with three releases ready. The much awaited sequel ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ still requires to get its final CG touches, and hence is pushed to release last of all the three.
Meanwhile, the almost-complete ‘Papanasam’ and ‘Uthama Villain’ take the front seat, and thus will be out in the same order, before ‘Vishwaroopam’s’ sequel does. All said, Kamal does have an optimistic year ahead.
But this brings us to the question of his long-stalled project ‘Marudhunaayagam’. The story is ready, and in fact the first thirty minutes are also ready on reel. Then what is it that Ulaganayagan is waiting for? Kamal clarified the development of ‘Marudunaayagam’ in a recent interaction.
“It is a Tamil-English-French movie, and requires the proper platform for its support and release. ‘Marudunaayagam’ is not a movie that I can release and assume that my responsibility is all over.
It is a serious subject and mandates involving all of the aforementioned languages. So without proper support from the west, it is too much a risk to take a step forward. Fox, Viacom and companies of the likes must take a look at the story, but they seem distracted in the silver screen regulars right now” he said.
