With his rough-and-tough appearance, few would have thought that Rajendran would have an eye for comic roles. The 64-year old actor, however, proved his critics wrong by taking on comic roles in Boss Engira Bhaskaran and Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. He now plays a woman’s character, albeit briefly, in the upcoming film Thirudan Police which has Dinesh and Iyshwarya Rajesh in lead roles.
The still photos of the film, released recently, shows Rajendran clad in a bluish green saree, matching blouse and speaking on his (her) cell-phone. One can’t help but smile at how the woman’s get-up fitted him perfectly. In fact, after comedian Vadivelu, who had donned the get up with aplomb in many films, Rajendran appears best in a woman’s get up among the present generation of actors and comedians.
It turns out that Rajendran doesn’t appear in the woman’s get-up throughout the film but the sequence is only a part of a ‘sub-story’ in the script. Starring ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh and Iyshwarya Rajesh in lead roles and directed by debutant Caarthick Raju, Thirudan Police has got adequate pre-release publicity and hype. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is one of the major pluses of the film.
