Prashanth, who is attempting a comeback in Kollywood with Sahasam, is to play the lead role in the Tamil remake of the 2013 super-hit Bollywood film Special 26 which had Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpai, Jimmy Shergill and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. Neeraj Pandey had penned the script and directed the Hindi version.
Thiagarajan, actor-producer-director and Prashanth’s father, has secured the remake rights of Special 26 in all the four South Indian languages, much like he did with Kangana Ranaut-starrer and super-hit Queen. Thiagarajan is producing Sahasam which he plans to release by the year-end.
As Queen has a heroine-oriented script, Thiagarajan is reportedly approaching frontline heroines in Tamil to play the lead role in the Tamil remake. Even before starting work on the remake of Queen in four languages, Thiagarajan has gone ahead and acquired the remake rights of Special 26 too. Thiagarajan won the remake rights of the film amid heavy competition from many producers and distributors.
Prashanth would be essaying the lead role in the Tamil remake of Special 26. Manoj Bajpai might reprise in the Tamil version the role he portrayed in the Hindi version. Veteran actor Sathyaraj is also portraying a major role.
