Vijay Sethupathi, often hailed as a director’s actor and an artiste who is well aware of the financial constraints on the producer of his films, has just turned producer and has produced his upcoming film Orange Mittai.
Vijay had an excellent year in 2012 and followed it up with another successful year in 2013 with films such as Soodhu Kavvum and Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. However, this year has been a rather sedate one for him as his Rummy and Pannaiyarum Padminiyum didn’t rattle the box-office but could only be termed as ‘moderate hits’. As such, Vijay Sethupathi needs to end the year with a bang.
The shoot of Vijay’s films such as Vanmam, Idam Porul Eval, Orange Mittai, Purampokku, Mellisai and Naanum Rowdydhaan have been wrapped up and these films are getting ready to release in the coming weeks.
As the release of other films is not in his hands, Vijay has decided to release his own production Orange Mittai. The film’s audio might be launched towards end-November followed by its release in theatres in December.
Directed by Biju Viswanath, Orange Mittai features Vijay Sethupathi, Ramesh Thilak, Arumugam Bala and Aashritha in lead roles. Vijay plays a 55-year old man in the film and appears in the old man’s get up throughout the film. He has also penned the film’s script and dialogues in association with Viswanath.
