Gnanasambandan, who was an assistant director under Mu Kalanjiyam, turns director with an upcoming film titled as Aakkam which has Satish Raghavan debuting as hero. Vaidehi, who has starred in a few Malayalam films, makes her debut in Tamil films as heroine with Aakkam by getting paired up opposite Raghavan.
The script of the film is said to be based on a real-life incident, which got good publicity in the print and television media, which took place in Chennai some time back. Ranjith, Tarun Kumar and the self-styled ‘power star’ Srinivasan are in the cast. Srinivasan plays a ‘dada’ in the film, who is shown to become an anti-social element after landing up in prison.
The entire film has been shot in North Chennai and the film’s crew is in the final stages of the shoot. Speaking about his film, Gnanasambandan says: “The script is based on a real-life incident and is full of action and romance. The backdrop is North Chennai and as such, we have shot extensively in Royapuram, Pulianthope, Vyasarpadi and Ennore and plan to release the film before Pongal in January next year.”
Srikanth Deva is the film’s music director while G.A. Shivachander, who worked with Kalanjiyam in Karungaali, is the cinematographer.
