Samantha has always travelled against the tide. The actress faces a big test today as her much-awaited and controversy-ridden Kaththi releases in theatres all over the world today. Samantha needs a hit to sustain herself in Kollywood; in the eyes of observers, she has plenty of promise but is still searching for that elusive super-hit opposite a frontline hero.
The actress, who is rurmoured to be in love with Siddharth, has expressed her wish to get married soon and bear children. While actress of her age and even those elder to her have been going on record stating that their ambition was always to earn in crores and remain as frontline actresses (forever), Samantha has been brutally frank.
Samantha, who has started to shoot for her new film 10 Endradhukkulla opposite Vikram, has now starred opposite Vikram, Vijya, Suriya and Jiiva in Kollywood. She, however, is aware that her continuation as a frontline actress in Kollywood hinges heavily on the success of Kaththi, whose release in theatres was opposed by Tamil activists and organizations. The issue has, however, been resolved amicably yesterday.
“I know that an actress’ rein in films is for not more than a decade as a frontline heroine. I would be in films only for the next few years and would get married soon after and bear children.
Obviously, I don’t want my kids to be 15 when I turn 60. I love children so much so that I have a plan by which I would become a mother (after formally getting married, of course!) within the next 3-4 years!” says Samantha.
