Atlee, an erstwhile assistant director under Shankar who made a successful debut as director in Kollywood last year’s super-hit Raja Rani, is probably the happiest man in tinsel town right now. If reports are to be believed, he would be directing Vijay in his next film which would only be his second film as a director.
Raja Rani not only marked Nayantara’s return (the actress had quit the industry in the aftermath of her break-up with Prabhu Deva) to Kollywood but also had teenager Nazriya making her debut in Tamil through her first direct Tamil film.
The script, woven ever so nicely surrounding two couples in love who get married to different partners, was loved by the audiences and also gave Nayantara the Filmfare award for ‘best actress’.
Atlee has just got engaged to his long-time friend and actress Priya and it is a double-treat for him as Vijay has ticked him as the director of his film whose shoot is likely to commence in the second half of next year.
Vijay, who is presently shooting for the final stages of A.R. Murugadoss’ Kaththi, has committed to work with Chimbu Deven in his next film which is likely to commence after Deepavali.
Amid reports that Vijay’s next after Chimbu’s film would be produced by ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu, it now turns out that Vijay would be working with young Atlee. Vijay, who was apparently mighty impressed with Raja Rani, was floored by the one-line script narrated to him by Atlee and told him to wait till the second half of next year so that they could work together after he completed the shoot of Chimbu Deven’s film.
