Director Pa Ranjith of Attakathi fame, who has wrapped up the shoot of his Karthi-Catherine Tresa starrer Madras, is over the moon after hearing positive comments about the film’s final version from none other than actor Suriya, elder brother of Karthi.
The audio-launch of the film was held several weeks back and the film was expected to release towards end-July but for some reasons, the film’s release was postponed. The reason given for the delay in releasing the film was that the post-production work was consuming more time than expected. It was also said that the delay was due to the not-so-encouraging response from distributors and exhibitors in releasing the film.
It was then decided to release the film after the release of Suriya’s Anjaan as Gnanavel Raja, uncle of the brothers, didn’t want them to clash at the box-office. Finally, 02nd October was decided as the date of release.
The final version was shown to Suriya a few days back. After watching the film, Suriya praised Ranjith and Karthi’s effort sky-high saying that the film had shaped up very well.
Suriya’s comments appear to have done a world of good for the film’s business as word-of-mouth has spread to distributors who are now queueing up to secure the film’s release rights. Gnanavel Raja hopes that the success of the film would also put back on track his somewhat ‘strained’ relationship with the brothers. Last heard, the release of Madras has been advanced by a week to release on 26th September.
