Actress-turned-politician Roja has said that it was untrue to say that she had separated from her film-maker husband R.K. Selvamani. “We are very much together and I’d like to quell any doubts in this regard,” she said.
Roja, who debuted in films through the 1992 Tamil super-hit film Chembaruthi opposite Prashanth, went on to establish herself as a leading actress throughout the nineties and starred opposite the likes of superstar Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Karthik and Prabhu but somehow missed out the opportunity to star against Kamal Haasan. She also has the unique distinction of having starred in more than 100 films as a heroine.
After falling in love with and marrying Selvamani in 2002, she reduced the number of her filmy projects and later indulged in politics. She is now the YSR Congress MLA from Nagari in Andhra Pradesh and has been residing in Hydrabad for the past few years while Selvamani continues to live in Chennai. There were rumours in the press that all is not well between Roja and Selvamani and that the two had been living separately.
Commenting abou the rumours, Roja said: “Selvamani is in films whereas I’m in politics and this makes us meet only rarely. However, whenever he finds time, he visits us in Hyderabad. We are very much together!”
