Director R.Parthiepan’s ‘Kathai Thiraikathai Vasan Iyakkam’ has finally got a release date. The film that stars newcomers in lead roles and leading stars like Arya, Amala Paul, Vijay Sethupathi and many other making cameo appearances is finally set to release on August 29.
The film was earlier supposed to release on August 1, but it was finally withdrawn. Since Dhanush’s ‘Velai Illa Pattadhari’ is doing brisk business, Theatre owners are not willing to replace it with new films as revealed by sources.
However while announcing the release date of the his film Parthiepan has said that he wanted to make way for ‘Jigarthanda’ and ‘Sarabham ‘ which is another film with lesser star value that will be releasing on August 1. ‘Sarabham’ has been produced by C.V.Kumar under Thirukuamran Entertainments banner.
Stating that the current scenario in the film industry demands readiness to co-ordinate and adjust with others, Parthiepan hoped that people will reciprocate his gesture and avoid clashes while KTVI releases on August 29 and give priority for its smooth release
It is worth remembering that ‘Jigarthanda’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj was supposed to release on July 25 but was postponed at the last moment reportedly due to the stupendous success of ‘Velai Illa Pattadhari’ and distributors pressing for postponement of ‘Jigarthanda’.
On August 15, Suriya-Samantha starrer ‘Anjaan’ will have a grand release for the long Independence Day weekend. KTVI will be releasing after a good two weeks gap after the release of the biggie. Hence Parthiepan’s film is likely to get good number of screens.
That makes Parthiepan’s move praiseworthy and one that can be followed by others who make small budget films with less known faces in the lead.
