Charmy Kaur, who debuted as heroine opposite Simbu in Kadhal Azhivathillai almost a decade back in 2002, is returning to Tamil films in a big way by playing the heroine in the Tamil remake of the Bollywood super-hit film Queen whose remake rights in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada have been bought by actor-filmmaker Thiagarajan.
In the past decade, Charmy has starred only in limited number of Tamil films including Kadhal Kisu Kisu and Prabhu Solomon’s Laadam. She now plays the lead role in the heroine-oriented script, titled tentatively as Rani in Tamil. As a bonus, she has been cast in the lead role in all the remake versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Thiagrajan is to make the film in all these languages.
Prashanth, actor son of Thiagarajan, plays a prominent role in the Tamil version. Charmy, who is a name to reckon with in Telugu, is nearing the 50-film mark in her career which has spanned for over a decade after she made her acting debut even before she turned 15. Charmy’s oomph factor and her unlimited glamour helped her a great deal in establishing her as a frontline actress in Telugu films.
Kangna Ranaut played the heroine in the Hindi version which did very well at the box-office. Trisha or Nayantara was likely to step in to play the heroine in this film but the offer has now gone to Charmy who plays the heroine in all the four versions.
