A biopic on this highly acclaimed congressman was made with the title ‘Kamaraj’ and was released in 2004. Now the film is going to be re-released with many changes.
As revealed by the film’s director Balakrishnan, ‘Kamaraj’ will be released with additional content that will extend the film running time by half and hour and will include new characters one among which is to be essayed by noted director cum actor Samuthirakani.
While Balakrishnan underscores the need for reminding today’s youngsters about the greatness of leaders like Kamaraj, he explains why he has opted for content addition.
He recollected that when the film was released in 2004 many felt that the veteran politician’s role in Delhi politics and his position of being the authority to decide who should be the Prime Minister of India could have been explained better.
He also adds that they got portions pertaining to his Russian visit after becoming the President of the All India Congress Committee.
The director said that Samuthirakani plays the son of a freedom fighter and a Corporation officer. He comes to Kamaraj’s house after his demise to assess the Estate Tax that was in vogue those days. He learns that Kamaraj who has been the three time CM of the state had just rupees 110 in his possession.
