Producer and director Rama Narayanan who is aged 66 passed away in Singapore yesterday evening. For the last few years, he was suffering from kidney problems.
He was taken to Singapore for specialized treatment. Rama Narayanan who was admitted at a hospital in Singapore passed away at 21 hours (Indian Standard Time).
Rama Narayanan who hails from Karaikudi made his debut as director through the Tamil film Sumai. He continued to direct 128 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Malay languages.
He was also known for including a lot of animal characters in most of these films. These films turned to be great hits. Naryanan’s last film was last year’s Arya Surya. In the past few years, he had been distributing several Tamil films under his home banner Sri Thendral Films.
He also headed the Tamil Film Producers Council for three consecutive terms. He has also received many awards including the state “Kalaimamani” award. His mortal remains are brought today to Chennai from Singapore for the final rites.
