Superstar Rajinikanth shot for a daredevil stunt sequence atop a moving train for his upcoming film titled as Lingaa. Sources close to the Unit of the film say that the sequence shot was reminiscent of Rajini’s very famous stunt sequence on a moving train in his super-duper hit film Murattu Kaalai which released in the third week of December, 1980. K.S. Ravikumar is the director of Lingaa who directs Rajini for the third time after box-office hits such as Muthu and Padaiyappa.
Rajini plays dual roles in the film whose script is set before and after Independence. While Bollywood sizzler Sonakshi Sinha pairs up opposite Rajini in the script in the pre-Independence era, it’s Anushka who pairs up opposite the ‘modern’ Rajini. U.K.-born actress Lauren J. Irwin plays another heroine who is paired opposite Rajini in the script’s flashback mode.
Others in the cast are Vadivelu, Santhanam, Karunakaran, Radha Ravi, Vijayakumar and actor-director R. Sundararajan. Nayanthara appears in a ‘special number’ with Rajini, which is likely to be Rajini’s introductory song. Shoot of Lingaa commenced in the first week of May and the first schedule was held in and around Mysore for five weeks during when sequences involving Rajini and Sonakshi were shot.
After wrapping up the firs schedule, director K.S. Ravikumar has now started the second schedule’s shoot in Hyderabad for which huge, lavish sets have been erected.
Stunt sequences involving Rajini and Dev Gill (who plays the villain along with Tollywood’s Jagapati Babu) and his gang were shot atop a moving train. Unit sources say that this stunt sequence has come out really well and might turn out to be one of the film’s highlights as and when it is released.
Anushka and Sonakshi are to join the film’s shoot in the days to come.
