A few months ago, the ‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraja Fan Club Trust was officially launched in a grand event.
It was said that the objective of starting the club is to bring the ‘Raja’ fans spread across the world under one roof and make them indulge in social welfare activities.
Now the trust is going start their service to humanity with an activity that will do well for the preservation of environment.
On June 2, the maestro will be celebrating his 71st birthday. Marking the special occasion, the fan club has organized a mass tree planting event across the state.
“Eight native species of trees – pungan, neem, tamarind, coconut, vilvam, naval, fig, banyan – will be planted in their thousands across the state on the 71st birthday of the musical legend”R.Rajeshkumar, the Manager of Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja fan club trust, confirmed in a recent interview.
Fans from Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Kanya Kumari, and Salem, parts of Karnataka, Andhra as well as Malaysia and Singapore have set themselves a target to plant 70,001 saplings on June 2.They would also plant saplings at Ilaiyaraaja’s birth place, Pannaiyapuram. The’Iisaignani will be inaugurating the drive by planting the first sapling at the Prasad Studios in Chennai.
The trust has also requested all Ilaiyaraja fans to plant a tree in their home or nearby locations.
