Kareena Kapoor has denied that she never said she didn’t know who Suriya was. As readers are aware, Bollywood starlet Kareena Kapoor-Khan is one of the few actresses in Indian films who enjoy successful careers as frontline actresses despite getting married.
Kareena married a much-older Saif Ali Khan in late 2012 but hasn’t stopped playing lead roles in films.
It was reported some time back in sections of the press that Kareena would be dancing for an ‘item number’ in Suriya’s upcoming film Anjaan directed by Lingusamy.
The film already has a sizzling Chitrangada Singh performing an ‘item number in the fim. Soon after the reports appeared in the press, Kareena said she never agreed to star in Anjaan and added that she didn’t even know who Suriya was.
Following angry reactions from Suriya’s fans on social networking sites and in an apparent effort at trouble-shooting, Kareena said “I really haven’t met Suriya in person and that’s why I said I didn’t know him (personally).
However, I know who Suriya is; he is a great actor in Tamil and I respect him for his stardom. I know he is vastly talented and would love to pair up opposite him if he takes up a Hindi film offer.
“I was rattled by the news of my ‘item number’ in Anjaan as neither Lingusamy nor Suriya ever spoke to me about starring in the film. My only connection with Suriya is that I play the female lead in the Hindi remake of Suriya’s Singam II.
If I get an offer to star opposite Suriya in a Hindi film, I would surely consider it as a matter of pride,” she concluded.
