Producer council president Keyaar has said that the Tamil Cinema industry is suffering losses to the tune of Rs.200 crores since the theater collections have been dull in the past 4-5 months.
Speaking at the Audio launch event of the film Alaiye Alaiye produced by Vedhanayagi films, Keyaar said. “For the past 4-5 months number of audience coming to theaters has been considerably reduced. The loss suffered by the Film industry in the last 5 months amounts to Rs.200 crores”.
Keyaar is however happy that many achievers from other professions are entering the film industry. “Doctors, Engineers, Software professionals etc try their luck in cinema.
Once Cinema was considered as a degrading profession but now the outlook of the outsiders about the people in the Film industry has changed. This gives me immense happiness”.
Keyaar also highlighted the fact that last year 164 films had hit the screen while 200 films could not get screens. 180 new faces have entered the industry last year and Keyaar but many of them have not got more opportunities.
