Veteran Director Bharathiraja has issued a press statement as well as a letter to the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. J.Jayalalitha, expressing his happiness for the release of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Murder convicts.
In his press statement the Annakodi director has said that after watching so many sorrowful events like the killing of innocent fishermen, final stages of civil war in Srilanka, the February month of 2014 has brought a good news at last.
He has thanked Justice P.Sathasivam, the chief Justice of India for commuting the death sentence of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan who were allegedly associated with the crime and have been languishing in the jails for the past 23 years. He has also thanked the TN Chief Minister on behalf of the film industry.
In his separate letter to Chief Minister Jayalalitha, the director of many off beat films has profusely appreciated her immediate action for releasing all the seven convicts who are in jail for the murder that happened in 1991.
