A case has been filed against diminutive producer-director A.R. Murugadoss for depicting the image of the firm ‘Air Voice’ in a derogatory manner in the film Raja Rani which released a few months ago and turned out to be a super-duper hit.
Debutant Atlee had directed the film which starred Arya, Jai, Nayanthara and Nazriya Nazim in lead roles. G.V. Prakash Kumar had scored the film’s music. In response to the petition, Murugass has been directed by the Court to appear in person to offer an explanation.
The trademark of “Air Voice Infocom India (P) Ltd.”, based in Erode, was registered in Mumbai in 2006. In the film Jai and Sathyan were show to be working in Air Voice and seems the firm got upset at the sequences which depicted the company offering services which were of below-par quality.
Cases were filed by Air Voice against Fox Star Studio and Murugadoss, joint producers of the film, at a Court in Erode. In that petition, the firm had requested the Court to ban sequences in the film which showed/said the name of the company. It further said that it would hurt the firm’s prospects if the film is broadcast in theatres and television in its present version.
Justice Satish Kumar of the District Sessions Court, Erode took up the case and sent notices to Murugaodoss and others to appear in person on 27th January in the Court to offer an explanation.
