Vijay’s Jilla, his first release this year since his disappointing Thalaivaa late last year, is all set to release in more than 1150 screens all over the world. R.B. Choudary and his sons and actors Jiiva and Ramesh have produced the film and have timed the release perfectly so as to take advantage of the weekend holidays and the 4-5 continuous holidays next week on the eve of Pongal.
Malayalam megastar Mohanlal has essayed a prominent role in the film which releases in 400 screens in Tamil Nadu and in 300 screens in Kerala. Mohanlal, who apparently loved the script, went on to acquire the distribution and release rights of the film in Kerala. He is also counting on the fact that Vijay’s films have always done average to good business in the State.
Unspecified number of screens in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are also screening the film in the Tamil version. More than 10 countries including USA, UK, Australia and Sri Lanka are releasing the film on the same day. In all, the film is to release in more than 1150 screens, according to Choudhary.
Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal play the lead roles in the film which has music by D. Imman who last worked in a Vijay-starr in Thamizhan a decade back.
