Priya Anand, one of the few ‘original’ Tamil actresses around, might finally succeed in her dream of making it to the list of frontline actresses in Tamil.
The pretty Priya, born to a Tamil father and a half-Telugu-half-Marathi mother, has 4-5 films on her hands opposite promising heroes which might help her to make it big in 2014.
Priya didn’t have a bad year in 2013 at all. She played Sivakarthikeyan’s heroine in Ethir Neechal (produced by actor Dhanush) which went on to become a hit. She then played ‘Mirchi’ Siva’s heroine in Vanakkam Chennai, which was a moderate success. Besides, she also played a significant role in a Bollywood film titled Fukrey.
She now plays Gautham Karthik’s heroine in Vai Raja Vai directed by Aishwarya Dhanush, Vikram Prabhu’s heroine in Arima Nambi directed by debutant Anand Shankar and Adharvaa’s heroine in Irumbu Kuthirai directed by Yuvaraj Bose. Two other films are also to go on floors soon and one of them would be directed by R. Kannan, an established film-maker.
She has signed the untitled venture by Kannan, who made films such as Jayamkondan and Kandein Kaadhalai, opposite Vimal. D. Imman scores the music of the film.
It is said that Priya has been paid a ‘huge sum’ to pair up opposite Vimal, who had a mixed bag last year. It is said with some degree of certainty that the fee paid to Priya to star in the film is more than the amount to be paid to Vimal.
However, Priya neither denies nor confirms this particular news item. Let’s hope this journalism graduate, who studied in U.S., goes on to realize her dream in 2014!
