Now that she has proved her mettle as an actress who can dazzle in all sorts of roles, Nayantara appears to be preparing the ground to go to the next level and indulge in doing something which she has never attempted before: to become an ‘action’ heroine.
Over the years, Nayan has done it all: the homely kind or roles and roles such as the ones in Billa and Arrambam which required her to appear in skimpily-clad costumes and expose. She has also played a romantic heroine in many films in Tamil and Telugu.
Life has come a full circle for Nayantara, who has been accepted with open hands by her Tamil fans when she made a comeback to films with Raja Rani a few months back.
Her upcoming film Anamika, a Tamil-Telugu venture which is the remake of Bollywood super-duper hit film Kahaani, features her in the role of a pregnant woman who goes in search of her missing husband.
After Vijayashanti, there hasn’t been any actress who easily steps into the role of an ‘action heroine’. Vijayashanti was a trend-setter in this regard. Anushka and Sneha were the other heroines who took up such roles.
Anushka did the action scenes with aplomb in Irandaam Ulagam and has also performed many more of such scenes in her upcoming film Baahubali.
Nayanthara is said to be taking on some daredevil action sequences in her upcoming untitled film opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi. Directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja, the film’s shoot has already started.
While Ravi plays a hockey player, Nayan plays a Karate trainer for which she has undergone training in the martial art form of Karate. Besides romancing Ravi in song sequences, she is likely to bash up baddies in stunt sequences!
