In what could be the sweetest news yet for the millions of fans of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja who had been praying for his recovery from an illness which afflicted him yesterday, the ‘emperor of music’ has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital to a general ward which means that he would be discharged from the hospital very soon.
Hospital sources said that the Maestro had been doing very well and doctors decided to shift him from ICU where he was admitted yesterday afternoon after he complained of chest pain while composing music at Prasad Studios in the morning.
He was rushed to the Apollo Hospital- Greams Road where doctors, after conducting several tests on him, performed angiogram which brought his situation under control.
Legendary playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam called on the Maestro this morning and was seen talking to the latter in an emotional manner.
Karthik Raja, Maestro’s eldest son, said that almost all celebrities from Kollywood and Maestro’s friends were enquiring about his health over phone and through messages. Karthik Raja was spotted telling them happily that his father had become normal.
The Maestro was to perform a magnificent music programme in Malaysia on 28th December (Saturday) which had been aptly titled as ‘King of Kings’.
Now that only a few days are left for the programme, a question mark hangs over the Maestro’s participation in it. Though the doctors have advised Ilaiyaraaja to take rest for a few days, the Maestro is said to be willing to go ahead in conducting the musical nite as planned.
