The world over, owning a Rolls Royce car is a status symbol. Very few in the State own this car and comedian Santhanam is said to be leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to become the third proud owner of the coveted car after director-producer Shankar and Vijay.
Santhanam’s fee per film is said to have reached a high as he is reportedly paid few lakhs on hour-basis. Santhanam had earlier booked to acquire the car but his registration was cancelled by the company’s bosses. Rolls Royce car manufacturers have a tradition wherein they ‘check’ the background of persons aspiring to own the car. On the same premise, Bollywood hottie Mallika Sherawat’s application too was rejected in the past.
However, determined to own the car at any cost, Santhanam is said to have registered once again hoping to get the nod this time. In order to ensure that his second effort doesn’t face the same fate as the first one, Santhanam is said to be approaching the ‘powers-that-be’ in the political world as well.
It may be recalled that Santhanam already owns Landrover SUV, which costs around Rs.80 lakhs.
