Vijay Sethupathi, who has made rapid strides as an actor of substance in the past 18 months or so, is very clear about his priorities. At a time when his career is going great guns with successive successes, he is determined not to encourage opening of fans clubs in his name.
Tenmerku Paruvakkaattru started his upward trend which has been continuing till his latest venture Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara. Vijay is now awaiting release of his upcoming film Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum. Though some over-eager fans did approach him to grant permission to open fans clubs, Vijay has politely asked them not to go ahead with it.
“Of course, fans approached me to open fans’ clubs and they have been pressing me on a daily basis. I am not for fans’ clubs and that’s why I didn’t encourage them. My job is only to act and as far as my reading of films is concerned, the script is the actual hero in any film. I’m keen to ensure that producers who believe in me and invest money to produce my films shouldn’t suffer financial losses.
“I’m ready to mend myself if critics point out any flaws and come out with honest criticism about Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum which is to release shortly,” concludes Vijay.
