It has been officially announced by the makers of the Karthi-Hansika starrer Biriyani that the film would be releasing in theatres on 20th December.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu and with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film’s shoot had long back been wrapped up but the film faced many hurdles prior to its release and had to be postponed at least twice in the past. It was expected to hit the screens on Deepavali but Karthi’s All in All Azhagu Raja pipped Biriyani to the post and released on that day.
Obviously, Venkat Prabhu doesn’t want to clash with superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan and Ajith’s Veeram which are scheduled to release on Pongal.
He also doesn’t want to delay the release of the film any further and has chosen to release the film on 20th December hoping to cash in on the half-yearly holidays for school and college students and the ensuing Christmas holidays.
Ramki and Premgi have essayed prominent roles in the film. Karthi, who has had a hat-trick of non-starters at the box-office in the past couple of years, is counting on Biriyani to bail him out of his lean run at the box-office.
