Santhanam vows not to utter vulgar dialogues in films

SanthanamComedian Santhanam, popular mainly because of his double-meaning dialogues which more often than not end up embarrassing the family audiences in theatres, is said to have taken a ‘firm decision’ not to utter vulgar dialogues in films from now onwards. The decision has many reasons behind it, it is said.

Of late, Santhanam has been finding himself at the centre of criticism from movie-goers, critics as well as social activists for his various vulgarish and insensitive dialogues which he utters with ease and in a nonchalant manner on-screen. Director Rajesh of the recently released All in All Azhagu Raja had to delete some sequences and dialogues by Santhanam from the film even before its release due to the protest by anti-tobacco campaigners.

Santhanam has been essaying roles which are almost parallel to that of heroes in films. He has risen to the top as a comedian in the past 2-3 years thanks to the continued absence of the likes of Vadivelu and Vivek. Some films did enjoy successful run because of Santhanam’s presence but he has always persisted with uttering vulgar and other embarrassing dialogues which have hurt women’s sensitivities.

The re-entry of Goundamani, the emperor of comedy, to Kollywood after a long gap and the return of Vadivelu have reportedly made Santhanam think hard about how to keep his fan-base intact. Obviously, he has decided that it would be better for him to stay away from uttering embarrassing/vulgar dialogues in films from now onwards.

Let’s see whether Santhanam manages to keep his promise!
