Popular Tamil and Kannada actress Divya Spandana (‘Kuththu’ Ramya) was recently elected as a Member of Parliament from Mandya in Karnataka at the recently held bye-elections. To say that the 30-year old actress, who is still busy with her film career, is one of the most-watched and pretty-looking parliamentarians in the country would be an under-statement!
After becoming an M.P., Divya appears to have become reluctant to star in films and continue her pending projects. She has at least four unfinished projects in Kannada and in particular, the shooting schedule of the film Neer Dose is stuck up ever since she became an M.P. Jaggesh, the producer and hero of Neer Dose, has condemned Ramya’s unprofessional attitude by agreeing to star in the film and then not doing so.
Speaking to the press recently, Jaggesh said “We hear that Ramya may not be starring in films now that she has turned a parliamentarian. However, it’s not proper on her part to go back on her word to star in my film (Neer Dose). In case if Ramya is still not ready to continue to star in the film, she would have to cough up the Rs.4 crores that I have spent so far in making this film!”
“As people have trusted me and elected me as an M.P., I feel it’s my first and foremost duty to serve them by attending to my chores as a parliamentarian. Therefore, I can’t star in films anymore and my career as an actress has almost come to an end. Few actresses starred in films after becoming an M.P. How could I don sexy attire and run around trees in duet songs now that I have become an M.P.? I can never do so!” concluded Ramya which is seen as a clear reply to Jaggesh.
