Alongside his career, Suriya has been indulging in many socially relevant causes. He runs Agaram Foundation which locates and helps economically backward students who want to achieve big in life and provides them financial assistance in realizing and pursuing their dreams. Suriya also played a cameo on Radhika’s Chennaiyil Oru Naal which dealt with the all-important issue of organ donation.
Suriya has just shot for an awareness-creating film made by the Fire officials in the State. The short-film is intended to create awareness among the members of the public on how to handle crackers during the festival of crackers, Deepavali, which falls on 02nd November in about a fortnight’s time from now.
Fire service officials have been campaigning in various parts of Chennai and elsewhere in their efforts in creating awareness among the public so as to avert any accidents on Deepavali, which is celebrated with gaiety all over the country. They are also planning a huge rally comprising school students in ensuring the safety of crackers-users.
In the meantime, Suriya has starred in a 2-minute long awareness-creating film made by the Fire service officials. The work of scoring the background music is in progress right now, it is informed.
Once the work is over, the film would be screened for the journalists and would be screened on all the cinema halls besides on various television channels to create awareness on safety among the children in particular and the people in general on how to use crackers safely.
Suriya didn’t demand any fee to star in the film and voluntarily opted to star in it, it is reported.
