Producer Udhyanidhi Stalin seems to have made a right a choice again, as he his decision to produce Vanakkam Chennai directed by his wife Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi has embarked on a good opening at the Tamil Box Office. The movie, which was released last Friday (October 11), has done a good business in the state.
Vanakkam Chennai was released with a lot of expectations from public and media, as it is the debut directorial movie of Kiruthiga Udhyanidhi. The comedy movie clashed with other release Nayaandi starring Dhanush and Nazima Nazrim. However, the Udhayanidhi Stalin won the battle, as it had a better opening than the afore-mentioned other flick.
Shiva and Priya Anand starring Vanakkam Chennai opened up to mixed reviews. It may be because of huge expectations. While the critics declared it as an average outing, general audience did not bother about flaws even though it was a regular movie and they claimed that it was a time-pass movie. This factor helped the film to get a good start at Tamil Box Office.
Trade reports say that Vanakkam Chennai has made more than Rs 2.50 crores (Gross) in the first weekend. The holiday season factor played a crucial made in the film’s success at the collection centres.
