Actress Hema Chaudhary, who played one of the heroines in Kamal Haasan’s K. Balachander-directed 1976 hit film Manmadha Leelai, had a great time interacting with her ex-hero Kamal at the four-day gala event of recent centenary celebrations held in Chennai. She has opined that Kamal hasn’t changed a bit all these years.
The 100 Years of Indian Cinema celebrations was a star-studded event attended by the stalwarts of Tamil Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. Hema, who took part along with a line-up of veteran actors in the Kannada film industry, including Saroja Devi, Jayanthi and Bharathi, was spotted enjoying herself completely in the company of actor Kamal Haasan. She sat next to the actor and interacted with him for a while.
When Hema initially approached Kamal and asked him if he remembered her, Kamal replied at the very next moment that he could never forget his Manmadha Leelai heroine. Hema was floored that Kamal vividly remembered her face after so many years.
“During my interaction with him, I found Kamal as very down-to-earth and could feel that he had his feet planted firmly on the ground. He is easily accessible to anyone who wants to talk with him,” said Hema.
