Superstar Rajinikanth and legendary playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) share warm a relationship which dates back to the late seventies. Right from the day when Rajini turned hero, SPB started rendering his voice to Rajini’s songs, making them super-duper hits. Whenever Rajini’s songs are sung by SPB, the fans believe the film invariably becomes a super-hit.
In Rajini’s super-duper hits such as Annamalai, Baashha and Padaiyappa and in many other films, SPB’s title songs have served as a huge factor to the film’s showing at the box-office. As such, SPB has sung a song for Rajini in Kochadaiiyaan, his upcoming animation 3-D venture directed by debutant Soundarya Ashwin. Fans are obviously hoping that the SPB magic works yet again.
Teaser of Kochadaiiyaan, which has Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone opposite Rajini, was released on the net two weeks back and registered a record number of hits; yet, some fans of Rajini expressed their reservations and apprehensions about watching Rajini in a cartoon-like film. “We would rather wait for a film which shows him in flesh and blood than like a cartoon character,” was the opinion voiced by them.
Soundarya has, in the meanwhile, assured that the trailer which would be released in October, would have Rajini’s voice and would be ‘rocking’. With SPB’s trade-mark introduction song in the film for Rajini in twin Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman’s music, it is earnestly hoped by the fans that Kochadaiiyaan would be a successful venture.
