Actress Madhubala, who starred in Mani Ratnam’s award-winning Roja more than a couple of decades, has still managed to keep her shape intact. Mani Ratnam’s political drama about the abduction of commoners by terrorists for release of their comrades held by government as prisoners struck an emotional cord all over the country and was a runaway hit. Rahman’s music was an added plus to the film.
Madhubala has since changed her name to Madhoo and looks ‘dazzling’ for her 40-plus years of age. Married and settled in Mumbai now, Madhoo has been sending feelers to producers and directors known to her to make a ‘comeback’ in films. The actress, who starred in films such as Gentleman, Mr. Romeo, Iruvar and Azhagan, was known for her performance-oriented films.
She starred in a Telugu film last year and has just signed up a Tamil film to play the lead role. Yes, she plays the lead role in Otthakallu whose shoot is already underway. Talking to newsmen recently, Madhoo said she is game to star in the sequel to Roja if Mani Ratnam made it and considered casting her in it.
We have to wait and see whether Madhoo’s dreams of starring in the sequel is realised in the coming days!
