Lakshmi Menon has her hands full in Tamil films. The actress, who debuted as heroine in Tamil films with last year’s Sundarapandian and then followed it up with Prabhu Solomon’s super-duper hit Kumki, starred in yet another hit film Kutti Puli, making it a hat-trick of hits for her. The ability to dub for herself in her films also makes her a preferred choice of film-makers.
She has Manja Pai (opposite Vimal), Sippai (opposite Gautham Karthik), Pandiya Naadu (opposite Vishal), Jigarthanda (opposite Siddharth) and Vasantha Kumaran (opposite Vijay Sethupathi). The array of films on her hand easily makes her the busiest and most sought-after actress in Kollywood. Still in her teens, Lakshmi is considered to have the potential to shine in the mould of actresses like Revathi and Suhasini.
“Gautham is my closest friend in the industry,” says Lakshmi and adds that Suriya has been her all-time favourite hero right from her childhood. “If I’m offered a film opposite Suriya, I’m ready to make all possible adjustments in my call-sheet diary to ensure that the film gets rolling at the earliest. I’m also ready to sign up for the film without even bothering to listen to the script,” she adds.
“I have watched Suriya’s Kaakha Kaakha and Ghajini many times and I have actually lost count,” continues Lakshmi. Turning her attention to the roles she loves to do, she says: “My body won’t look nice if I start wearing revealing clothes; for the time being, I feel it should be okay for me to do roles sans glamour but with substance. In future, I might try going glamourous; it is not ruled out at all!”
Her wish-list also includes films opposite Vijay and Ajith.
