In order to enable the actors, actresses, technicians, music directors, producers and directors to take part in the centenary celebrations of Indian cinema to be held in a grand manner in Chennai from 21-24 September, the shooting schedule of all Tamil films are suspended with effect from today (19.9.2013).
The centenary celebrations are to be held in the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai and would be inaugurated by the Jayalaithaa, the State’s Chief Minister while Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee would take part in the celebrations on the concluding day. The chief-ministers of the other South Indian States such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala would also take part in the 4-day long function wherein doyens of Indian cinema would be honoured and felicitated.
All the shooting schedules have been suspended for a week and those shooting abroad and in other parts of the State/country had already been advised to attend without fail the Chennai celebrations. The cultural events involving artistes from Tamil would take place on 21st while the Kannada and Telugu artistes would host their events on the morning and evening of 22nd with Malayalam artistes doing so on 23rd.
Leading starlets including Nayanthara, Trisha, Shriya Saran, Kajal Aggarwal, Hansika, Anushka, Tamannaah, Hansika and Samantha are expected to take part in these events and dance to please the audiences. On the concluding day of the festival, the matinee and evening shows of all the cinema halls in Chennai would remain cancelled.
