Audio systems pioneer Dolby is very keen to reaffirm its foothold in the Indian market, as they hope to push forward their flagship invention Dolby Atmos with new collaborations. In fact, they recently inked a deal with Real Image Media Technologies, who are regarded as one of India’s leading digital cinema technology providers.
CEO,Arvind Ranganathan, who heads Real Image Media Technologies, revealed to the press recently – “Dolby has strived to be at the fore front, offering amazing service to cinema with their innovative approach for realistic sound.”
For those readers who are not aware of this technology, Dolby Atmos, is much efficient than earlier systems as it specifically pans the required audio in accordance with the visuals on screen.First employed in the Hollywood animation flick Brave, back in June 2012, it has caught up well in India too.
India presently has 8 Dolby Atmos cinema screens, namely at – Inox Movies, PVR Cinemas, SPI Cinemas, Mayajaal and Prasads. Moreover, upcoming movies such as Maan karate, Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, Kayal, Idhu Kadhirvelanin Kadhal, Madhayaanai Kootam and Vanakkam Chennai are also expecting to be released on the same platform. More than 100 Dolby Atmos screens are expected in India according to Michael Bergeron, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Field Operations, Dolby Labs.
