Maestro reportedly agreed to the director’s idea to score music ‘live’ for the film and chose the location at Karur where the great Karuvoorar had attained ‘samadhi’ . As promised, Ilaiyaraaja arrived at the venue in the morning and was welcomed by a huge gathering which had assembled to have a glimpse of the Maestro and his music-producing skills.
The tunes of the songs were composed in front of the huge audiences. As time wore on, the crowd grew in strength and when policemen tried to restrain them, Ilaiyaraaja spoke to the people in his inimitable way and asked them to be ‘patient’ so that his work could go on without any hurdle. “I’m here for you; please be patient and listen to the music,” was all enough from the Maestro to keep the crowd maintain peace.
