Starting off as a chocolate-boy more than a decade back in 2001 with films such as 12-B, Lesa Lesa, Iyarkai, etc.,Shaam slowly transformed himself into a muscle-man though he hasn’t yet got to display his muscular power in a full-fledged action film in Tamil. After Thillalangadi (2009) and Agam Puram (2010), he seemed to prefer starring mainly in Telugu films.
In order to make his own space in the industry rather than being part of successful films, Shaam was looking for the right script to produce a film when his friend and director V.Z. Durai narrated to him the script of 6 Candles in which the protagonist would wander around the 6 States in the country for 6 years, 6 months, 6 weeks and 6 hours before finally getting to know his actual ‘identity’.
Shaam loved the script and started work in the film (in 2011), produced on his behalf by his brother. The film turned out to be a big-budget venture and the shoot took place for more than an year. Shaam underwent untold physical miseries by remaining awake in nights for several days and getting ‘bags’ under his eyes and for another get-up in the film, he appears in a ‘six-pack-abs’ avatar.
Sources close to Shaam insist that performance-wise, this is by far Shaam’s best film and add that the film would do well at the box-office The film, however, found few takers and hence the delay in releasing it. Finally, Studio 9, Abi & Abi and Red Carpet Movies have joined hands and taken up the film’s distribution. 6 would now be released all over the State on the 20th of this month.
“My friend Durai narrated the script to me; I loved the script which is about a common man and the unexpected crisis in his life which takes him around the country in search of his identity. My brother is confident enough to have invested a huge sum in making the film. I have put in my best performance as I’m determined to succeed as a hero in Kollywood. Without an iota of doubt, 6 will determine the rest of my life and career,” says Shaam about his dream project.
Poonam Kaur pairs up opposite Shaam in the film. Archana, Mollywood veteran Jagathy Srikumar, Anil Murali and Narayan play prominent roles in the film which has music by Srikanth Deva.
