Karthi, who is awaiting the release of his All in All Azhagu Raja which is slated to hit the screens on Deepavali this year, has signed up to play the lead role in a new film to be directed by Ranjith (of Attakathi fame). It was announced a week back that his Venkat Prabhu-directed Biriyani opposite Hansika earlier scheduled for september would be releasing only during Pongal (in January) next year.
M. Rajesh, who has a hundred percent success record at the box-office, has directed All in All Azhagu Raja which has Kajal Aggarwal opposite him and Santhanam as the lead comedian. Given M. Rajesh’s track record ,the cast of the film, and the recently released teaser, the film is expected to do well at the box-office. Karthi who is badly in need of a hit to sustain his position in the industry could taste success with this film, could have been the reason for the shuffling.
Ranjith, who made last year’s run-away hit Attakathi which had newcomers Dinesh and Nandita in lead roles, had made a huge impression with critics and movie-goers with his debut film as a director. He has now signed up Karthi for his second film which remains untitled as such. Lakshmi Menon, one of the most sought-after heroines in Kollywood at present, has been paired opposite Karthi in Ranjith’s film.
Gnanavel Raja, Karthi’s uncle and producer, would be producing the Karthi-Lakshmi starrer. Other cast and crew members are to be chosen soon. The film is likely to be a village-based script as Karthi had earlier hinted that the script of his next film after All in All Azhagu Raja and Biriyani would be set in a rural backdrop.
