We recently talked of that ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan’s sequel film Vishwaroopam 2 would most probably opt out of the ‘Deepavali race’, which is targeted with keen interest by most film-makers to cash in on the festive mood and the holidays before and after the festival. Kamal had hinted that Vishwaroopam 2 might release in late November or in December.
Ajith now joins Kamal by opting out of the Deepavali race, which is not at all good news to the star’s fans. Ajith’s fans had been waiting patiently as Ajith’s last film was Billa-II which released in July last year. The film didn’t fare as well as expected at the box-office and as it happened, Ajith’s next film Arrambam has now taken more than an year in the making.
Directed by Vishnuvardhan and having Nayantara as Ajith’s romantic lead, Arrambam had its ‘title’ issues for many months as the title of the film was finalized as Arrambam only a few weeks back. The makers of the film are reportedly under the impression that Ajith’s Arrambam might fare better at the box-office if released alone and not with a host of films.
It was earlier informed to the media that the audio-launch of the film would be held in the first week of September. With just a day to go for September, no formal word yet has come from the director or producer. Ajith’s die-hard fans, though, point out that Ajith’s ‘Deepavali’ record had always been satisfactory as his Villain and Varalaru had released on Deepavali day on 2002 and 2006 and did very well at the box-office.
They only regret that their ‘Thala’ would be missing out from the Deepavali festivities!
