Utter confusion prevailed at the meet-the-press event held in the city in connection with the theatrical release today (19th July) of Dhanush’s Maryan. As if it was a pre-planned move, Tamil media and Tamil film journalists were totally neglected, leaving a bad taste in the minds of those journos who had assembled at the venue in large numbers.
The time scheduled for the event was 0900 hrs, Dhanush came only around 1100 hrs and it was heroine Parvathy Menon and director Bharat Bala who had been speaking to the media till he arrived.
It seemed like Bharat Bala had had already decided as to which language media Dhanush should first speak to and seemed very intent in neglecting the Tamil media. Bala made the lead pair talk to his friends from the Malayalam media which was followed by Dhanush and Parvathy’s being interviewed by a set of north India television channels.
It was 2.00 PM by then , When it was the turn of the awaiting Tamil media, Bala asked them to finish of the interview with in few minutes, citing they were running late for another promotion. This led to a senior tamil journalist venting his anger at Bharat Bala, especially in the manner being treated and his intention of giving priority to other language medias while the film is being released in Tamil. In between the confusion, Dhanush disappeared from the venue.
“Dhanush, whose stature as an actor is on high is not a new personality to the industry, he very well knows how things function here. If he take things for granted, he is sure to face the ride ” Says a leading Newspaper’s journalist.
