Of late, whatever Prabhu Deva utters booms into a controversy. Whether or not the choreographer-turned-director makes his statement after giving careful thoughts about them remains anybody’s guess. Soon after saying ‘Tollywood’ gave him a new lease of life (not bothering to mention about Kollywood), Deva has made yet another statement which is sure to raise some controversies.
Taking part in a recent dance reality show (in a Hindi channel), Prabhu Deva was asked as to who were the best dancers among actors and actresses who had impressed him the most. In his reply, Prabhu Deva referred to names of stars such as Chiranjeevi, Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Ram Charan Teja, Allu Arjun, Jr. NTR, Dhanush, Simbu and ‘Jayam’ Ravi among actors and Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Priyanka Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha among actresses.
Surprisingly enough, Prabhu Deva forgot (or with intent?) to mention the names of Raghavendra Lawrence and Vijay, easily among the best dancers in India .
Even dropping out the name of Raghava Lawrence, his real competitor is a understandable issue, citing he started his career as a choreographer under Prabhu Deva but has rose the ranks of actor and a mass director.
But missing out actor Vijay, who is best known for his dancing skills is the surprise. Infact Vijay has impressed every choreographers and fellow actors and actresses he has worked with his dancing style and ease with which he handles even difficult steps. Prabhu Deva, who made Pokkiri and Villu with Vijay in the lead, certainly knows a thing or two about the latter’s dancing prowess. He even in his blockbuster Rowdy Rathore (Hindi remake of Tamil hit Siruthai), had made Vijay dance for a ‘special dance number’ along with Akshay Kumar, who played the hero in the film.
Hope Prabhudeva comes out on a official explanation on his recent comments.
