Fans of lanky Anushka were disappointed at spotting the heroine on screen in her latest film Singam-2. The actress looked jaded and appeared completely dull in most of the scenes as compared to her smart and refreshing looks in Singam (the first part) which released three years back. This even had led most of them to write off Anushka as an ‘aged’ actress , and doubtful to play heroine in films anymore.
Unfazed by the criticisms that she looked very ‘matured’, Anushka (who was an Yoga instructor before coming to films) has said “Of course, I might have looked a shade off-colour in Singam-2 which was due to non-stop work in many Tamil and Telugu films. I worked alternatively for Singam-2 and Selvaraghavan’s Irandam Ulagam and had to shuttle between shoots to meet my commitments to star in these films.
“For days together, I had to stand under the hot Sun during shoots and couldn’t look after my skin which lost its tan. I also couldn’t indulge in my regular workouts and yoga. I now play the lead role in Rudhramadevi which is made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. For my role in the film, I had to train in sword fighting, horse-riding, etc.
“These rigorous exercises and non-stop shoot which resulted in less sleep have made me look a bit off-clour in Singam-2. I’d soon be taking a deserved break and would look as fresh as possible in Rudramadevi,” assures Anushka who turns 32 this Nov.
