The usual trend witnessed in Kollywood is that when a leading actress fades in film-makers’ memories and loses her ‘frontline actress’ status in Tamil, she goes to seek offers in Kannada films. A young and promising actress, who is reasonably busy in Tamil films, attempting to make her mark in Sandalwood is a new phenomenon.
Karthika Nair, the heroine of the recently released Annakodi, is the heroine who is all set to enter Kannada films. Karthika, who debuted in Tamil films opposite Jiiva in K.V. Anand’s Ko in 2011, had to wait for nearly two years to see her second Tamil film hitting the screens last month end, Annakodi which has ended flat at the box office. But even between those she did manage two projects in Telugu and Malayalam respectively.
Infact her debut was in Telugu film Josh, opposite Naga Chaitanya. As she has now starred in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and would become a ‘truly South Indian’ actress by starring in the quartet of languages by debuting in Kannada films with Brindavana, the remake version of Jr NTR starrer Brindavanam telugu film .
Darshan and Saikumar are her co-stars in Brindavana which is directed by K. Madesha.
