A complaint has been filed with the Tamil Films Producers’ Council (TFPC) by film producer Ezhil Inian against ‘Kadhal’ Sandhya. The 24-year old actress, who stole the hearts of many with her amazing performance in Balaji Sakthivel’s Kaadhal in 2004 as a 16-year old teenager, finds herself out of favour with Tamil film-makers for a variety of reasons.
Inian is the producer of the film Maayai which is directed by J.R. Kannan and which had Sandhya essaying the lead role in it. In his complaint with the Council, Inian has accused Sandhya of absconding with an objective of boycotting the shooting schedule of the film thereby causing huge losses to him.
In his complaint, Inian has said “We signed up Dhanam as heroine in the film Maayai, which I produced and have also played the heroine’s father in the film. After the shoot was over and the re-recording was completed, the director felt that the heroine’s work wasn’t satisfactory at all and then we replaced Sandhya as the heroine and started to re-shoot portions involving the heroine.
“When the shoot commenced in Ooty, Sandhya refused to wear her costumes, saying it was too ‘sexy’ and left the shooting spot. Instead of talking about it and ironing out the differences with the director, she had chosen to quit. Kannan then said he would also opt out of the film and demanded Rs.24 lakhs to do so and paid him Rs.24 lacs.
“Now Kannan is now making arrangements to release the film in theatres. I have filed cases against Sandhya and Kannan with the producers’ council. I have also decided to file a case in the Court against Kannan,” informs Inian.
