Director Natty Kumar is said to be planning to make a film on the life Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the late Indian prime minister, who ruled the country three terms before falling victim to the bullets of her own security men in 1984.
Natty Kumar had produced and directed Panithuli that hit the screen last year, Starring Ganesh Venkatraman, Kalpana Pandit and Shobana. But the film’s very poor performance at the box-office had made Natty to be away from the industry for some time, but he is now all set to come back with his dream project of a film on the life of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, popularly referred to as the Iron Lady of India.
Natty Kumar is currently involved in the scripting stage of the proposed film. Mrs Indira Gandhi who holds the unique distinction of of the only woman Prime Minister of India since independence. Indira gandhi during her regime has many pros and cons associated. One significant thing not many know is that under her administration was the constitution of equal pay for equal work for both men and women was imposed.
Natty plans to make the film a trilingual in English, Hindi and Tamil, he is likely to be title the film as Iron Lady Indira Gandhi. Kumar has said that he has Bollywood starlet Susan Sarandon in mind to play the title role in the film. Whether or not he manages to convince Susan to star in the film would be known in the weeks to come!
