Apparently wanting badly to come out of the ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ tag that has been surrounding him like the equator surrounds a globe, actor Dhanush has gone on record saying that he wasn’t so pleased by singing the song as he is repeatedly asked about the song wherever he went.
The song recorded maximum downloads/hits on the Internet and made Dhanush famous almost all over the world. 3, the film which had the song, didn’t do any wonders at the box-office and ended up as a failure though Dhanush and Shruti Haasan’s on-screen pairing was appreciated by the critics and moviegoers. The Kolaveri song also earned Dhanush a dinner date with the Prime Minister in New Delhi.
Dhanush’s debut Hindi film Raanjhanaa opposite Sonam Kapoor has just hit the screens. Its Tamil-dubbed version, Ambikapathy, is all set to release next Friday (28th June). Speaking in connection with the release of these films, Dhanush said “I never hunted for my Hindi film offer. It landed up in my lap and I did go about my job in a confident manner forgetting that it was my very first film in Hindi.
“The only problem was that I didn’t get much time in advance. I loved the script and took up the project. Had I known Hindi earlier, it would have helped me a lot. However, I have dubbed for my character in the film in Hindi. The script-writer and the director helped me a lot.
“The after-effects of Why This Kolveri Di song are baffling to say the least. Wherever I go, I’m constantly asked about the experience in penning and singing this song. I want to come out the Kolaveri effect as I feel I have more to offer than this. I have decided not to sing such songs in future,” said Dhanush.
