Known for his controversial films, director Samy is out to make amends for making such films in the past. Samy’s Sindhu Samaveli (which had Amala Paul in the lead) raised a huge furore when it released three years back for its unacceptable theme of a daughter-in-law getting ‘physical’ with her own father-in-law’.
National award-winning art director Thotta Dharani has erected a huge set in Kodaikanal for Samy’s upcoming film Kangaroo, produced by V-House Productions. Dharani, who specializes in challenging and huge sets, has ‘constructed’ a street wherein the shoot of Kangaroo was held. The street has been ‘erected’ in such a manner that the whole of Kodaikanal would be visible from it.
“The title song would be shot here . It would present the viewers with a never-before experience. Many of you have been asking me when i would be making family-oriented film and here am, I would love to dedicate Kangaroo to all mothers worldwide. I chose Kangaroo as the title for the animal is a perfect example of an affectionate mother,” says Samy.
Newcomer Arjuna is paired up opposite Varsha and Priyanka while Thambi Ramaiah, Kalabhavan Mani and ‘Ganja’ Karuppu are the other prominent stars in the film. Samy’s aide Sai has penned the story while Samy has penned the screenplay and dialogues besides directing the film. Vairamuthu has written all the lyrics in the film which marks the debut of singer Srinivas as music director.
The shoot of the film, which commenced on Wednesday (12th June), would go on for a month or so in and around places such as Ooty and Kodaikanal.
