The organizers of the function, which was to be held in Chennai wherein Vijay was to donate welfare-schemes to various beneficiaries to the tune of Rs.1 crore, have now announced that the function has been called off due to some ‘unexpected’ reasons.
Vijay turns 39 on the 22nd of this month and his fans had organized a function to commemorate the event by arranging for welfare schemes to be distributed to the poor and needy. The grand event was to be held in Chennai on the evening of Saturday (08th June).
The event was to take place inside the premises of AM Jain College in Chennai’s Meenambakkam. Vijay’s fans had already started erecting the pandal and huge cut-outs of the actor along the main road which leads to the city airport. Vijay was to distribute welfare-schemes including educational assistance, computers, sewing machines and special purpose tricycles for the handicapped on that day.
In the meanwhile, it has been announced by Anand, the convener of Vijay’s ‘Makkal Iyakkam’, that the event has now been cancelled. No specific reason, however, was given for the cancellation of the event which was to be attended by a few thousands of the actor’s fans who were to travel to Chennai from the many Districts in the State. Anand has asked fans not to travel to Chennai as the function has been called off.
