Pakru, the 2’6” actor in Jiiva’s Dishyum, Vijay’s Kaavalan and Suriya’s 7am Arivu has already entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘shortest living actor’ on earth, and now has made it into the record book for the second time for even more enviable one.
Born as Ajay Kumar and popularly referred to as Undapakru and ‘Guinness’ Pakru, the actor has now become the ‘shortest director’ to have directed a film in the world. Pakru is a busy comedy actor in Malayalam films and is not so busy in Tamil films but obliges request from Tamil film-makers whenever he is approached to star in Tamil films.
Kuttiyum Kolum is the film directed by Pakru which has him and Munna essaying the lead roles while Sanusha and Ponnamma Babu are the leading female artistes in the film. The film, whose shooting took off last November, was wrapped up in a few months’ time and was released in theatres on 30th March this year. Pakru had also penned the script of the film.
It is said that Pakru might again find his name in Guinness records for being the ‘shortest’ director. Commenting on the feat, Pakru says “Though directing a film is a very difficult job, when I go to the sets, I forget everything else and just concentrate on the job ahead. I got plenty of support, encouragement and assistance from the crew members, technicians and all assistants for which I shall remain forever grateful to them!”
Pakru’s effort is indeed a commendable one!
